Short version: for the Standard edition, DictDrop never collects your audio, transcripts, or dictation content — that data physically never reaches us. Your audio goes directly from your microphone to Groq using your own API key. The only thing that can ever reach our systems is an optional, off-by-default anonymous crash diagnostic — never audio or text. DictDrop Pro, an optional subscription, works differently: your audio is relayed through DictDrop's servers to reach the transcription provider on your behalf, though it is never stored or logged there. See Section 3 for details.
This Privacy Policy explains how DictDrop handles data in connection with DictDrop ("Software") and the website at dictdrop.com ("Site"). Please read it carefully.
For the Standard edition, DictDrop collects no audio, transcript, or dictation content — that data physically never reaches us. The one place DictDrop's own infrastructure does briefly log data (beyond the Pro relay described in Section 3) is the download-link server described in Section 4.
When you speak, the Standard edition sends your audio to Groq's speech-to-text API using your own Groq API key. DictDrop is not in this data flow at any point.

Your use of Groq's API is governed by Groq's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Review those directly at groq.com to understand how Groq processes your audio.
DictDrop Pro is a separate, optional subscription that does not require your own Groq API key. If you subscribe to Pro, your audio is sent from your computer to DictDrop's servers (running on Cloudflare Workers), which relay it to the transcription provider using DictDrop's own shared credentials, then return the transcript to your computer.

This means, for Pro subscribers only:
If keeping DictDrop out of your audio data path entirely matters to you, the Standard edition (Section 2) keeps that guarantee; Pro trades some of it for not having to manage your own API key.
Purchases and DictDrop Pro subscription payments are processed by Polar.sh, which acts as Merchant of Record. When you buy or subscribe, you submit your payment information directly to Polar — DictDrop does not receive or store your credit card details or payment account information.
Polar may share your email address with DictDrop as the product seller for the purpose of delivering your purchase, provisioning your Pro subscription, and providing support. This email is used only to respond to support requests and manage your subscription, and is not shared with any other party.
When you click the download link in your purchase email, DictDrop's delivery server records your email address, order ID, IP address, and the time of download. This record exists solely to detect fraud and prevent abuse of the download link (for example, a link being shared or brute-forced) and is automatically deleted after 30 days. It is never used for marketing and never shared with any third party.

This website (dictdrop.com) does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party tracking scripts. Basic traffic analytics provided by Cloudflare (the hosting platform) may record aggregated, anonymized visitor counts. Cloudflare's data collection is described in Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Cloudflare may set technical cookies necessary for security and performance (such as bot protection). These cookies do not track you across other websites.
If you email support@dictdrop.com for support, your email and its content are used only to respond to your request. Emails are not shared with third parties and are not used for marketing without your permission.
For the Standard edition, the Software itself collects no data, so there is nothing to retain or delete on that side. The download-link fraud-prevention record described in Section 4 (email, order ID, IP address, download time) is automatically deleted after 30 days. For DictDrop Pro, the per-request usage record described in Section 3 (duration in seconds, no audio or transcript) is retained for the life of your subscription plus a reasonable period for billing disputes, then deleted; it is deleted immediately upon request once your subscription ends and any dispute window has passed. Support emails may be kept as long as reasonably necessary to provide follow-up support. If you would like a support email deleted, contact support@dictdrop.com and it will be removed promptly.
Because DictDrop holds no personal data from the Software, most data subject rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) have nothing to act on from DictDrop's side. For data held by Polar or Groq, contact those services directly.
If you believe DictDrop holds any personal data about you and you wish to exercise your rights under applicable privacy law, contact support@dictdrop.com.
The Software is not directed at children under 13. DictDrop does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data, contact support@dictdrop.com and it will be removed promptly.
DictDrop may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Continued use of the Software or Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
